This odd looking baby is a baby belted kingfisher. There are approximately 114 types of kingfishers world wide. The United States only has 3 of them. The northern states only see the belted kingfisher. The parents dig a tunnel along a waters edge to lay there eggs. The parents share parenting duties. Fischer cat, is actually more closely related to martens than felines. They prey on snowshoe hares and porcupines. Fischer's are one of the few predators that hunt porcupines. They average in length from 3 - 4 feet. This guy is almost ready to be released. #fischercat #wildliferehabber #wildlife
